Question and Answer

Yesterday, I attended a Q and A session with medical students in Morriston Hospital (near to where I live) to chat about how people are affected by their disability. It was great to talk to them about how Duchenne has impacted me and about my experiences with the health service. They asked some great questions and hopefully I gave them some valuable information.

One question that came up a few times was about what I would want them to know about my disability as doctors in the future. I think my answer was a little jumbled but I thought about something today which I wanted to add to my points yesterday. I would want them to be more aware of the specific needs of the person they are treating, as individuals have many different requirements. I think that being more attentive to those needs would improve the service provided because it would ensure patients are properly cared for and made comfortable.
